“I’m Unworthy and Don’t Deserve It”

Maybe you feel like you literally are not good enough. You may want more and work towards more but deep down you really feel like you can’t accept compensation for what you did.

It’s pretty insane to think that people might actually work really hard at something but not expect anything in return for it. It’s not something you consciously do. You want to be more successful and you’re doing the things to become that, but deep down you really do not believe you should and you actually subconsciously sabotage yourself to stay congruent with that.

Why do people think like this? Because they’ve been conditioned to.

If you’re constantly putting yourself out there and promoting yourself, you know you get a lot of “no’s” and people telling you that you’re doing it wrong. Even if you know this is going to happen, that stuff can really take a toll on someone.

On top of that, you probably grew up with some form of punishment for doing something wrong. Whether it be from your parents, teachers or even religious leaders.

“But I’m a grown ass adult, nobody punishes me anymore!”

That may be true. But because that conditioning is so ingrained, people actually take it upon themselves to punish themselves!

What you need to do is understand that any idea you have about whether you deserve something or not is just plain made-up. Honestly, who has the right to determine whether you’re worthy of something or not? Nobody. So, since you are the only one that can tell yourself that you’re not worthy, you’re the only one that can tell you otherwise.

Seriously, just tell yourself you’re worthy of it and keep on truckin. Get moving and take the actions you know you should be taking.

“It’s Better to Give Than to Receive”

Another reason people are not good receivers is that they think it is better to Give than to Receive.

Yeah, it’s good to give to people that are less fortunate than you are. But imagine this. If a water tower who’s sole purpose is to give water to the area surrounding it were to only Give water, it would run out pretty quickly. Even they have to accept water continually that is pumped into it.

There always has to be a Giver AND a Receiver And vice-versa.

Not only that, but have you ever really wanted to give to someone that was unwilling to receive it? Probably made you feel bad. Do you really want to do that to someone else? To deny them of that same satisfaction of giving to you?

“But Money Will Change Me”

Here is another thing people tell themselves to keep them from their full potential. They say that money will turn them into a greedy jerk and no one wants to be around that type of person. So why would you strive for that?

The truth is, money wont make you anything except more of what you already are. If you are nice then you will have the opportunity to be nicer. If you’re mean then you can be meaner. You get the point.

If anyone tells you otherwise, they are probably broke.

Becoming a Better Receiver

Here are a few thing you can start doing to practice being a better receiver.

Start small and learn how to take compliments. If someone tells you that you did something good, just say “thank you”. You don’t need to think of something nice to say back to them.

Make a big deal about ANY amount of money that comes your way. Even if you find a penny on the ground, do a little dance!

If you start letting yourself receive more you will have more opportunities to get more.
